Apex Legends chat not working on Xbox and character select screen bug

When it comes to Battle Royale games, Apex Legends is surely one of the most enjoyable video games in its genre.

In three years, the game has reached the milestone of more than 100 million registered players worldwide.

That being said, players have been complaining about issues like missing Twitch drops and packet loss over the past few days.

Apex Legends chat not working on Xbox

Adding to the problem, Apex Legends players are now saying (1,2,3,4,5) that chat doesn’t work on the Xbox version of the game. While some say it works sometimes and is jerky at best, others disagree and claim the feature is broken for them.

This causes a lot of frustration among gamers as communication is the key to victory, especially when it comes to fast-paced shooters like Apex Legends.

Anyone having issues with group chat after the new update? I’m on PS5 and my boyfriend is on XBOX, we crossed the game and before the update we had no problems. Immediately after the update, his mic acts weird – His sound is sporadic or delayed, and sometimes the whole sound of his phrase will be off, then it’s like the sound is playing all at once very fast. Anyone else encounter this problem? Does anyone have a potential solution?

This update has messed up the game chat on series x. So not only did it NOT give us 120fps, it also messed up the game chat. My mic keeps clipping and people can’t hear me. He doesn’t even show that he is moving. It was nothing but a waste of 70 gigs on my game. It says “60 fps” I already had that. What was the purpose of this?

Fortunately, EA Help commented on the issue and said the developers are aware of the issue and are working to find a fix for the problem. But, there is no ETA on when it will be resolved.

Hello, thank you for contacting us using EA. Sorry for the late response. We have seen similar reports from other players. We are aware of this issue and are working to resolve it as soon as possible. Appreciate your patience while waiting. -Joey

Players are kicked from the character selection screen

Apart from this, Apex Legends players are also experiencing an issue where they are kicked out of the character selection screen (1,2,3,4,5). The issue appears to be affecting ranked matches and causing some to be temporarily banned from matchmaking.

Some say that even if they restart the game, it does not ask them to join the round, which makes Apex Legends completely unplayable for players. You can see in the image below the error players get when kicked from the match.

Every time I play and enter a match, the game freezes in champ select and then kicks me out. If it’s a rank, I get banned for 10 minutes, have to quit the game, then go back to play. It just makes the game unplayable. i’m on ps4
