New updates are added at the bottom of this story â¦â¦.
The original story (published December 20, 2021) follows:
The Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are the latest entrants to the flagship Pixel line. While reviewers have praised the devices for their uniquely-looking camera and overall performance, the software experience can be summed up as poor at best.
Since its release in mid-October, owners have reported several bugs and issues that have marred the Pixel experience for many. While the hardware is impressive, it looks like some are having display issues.
While some say their screen cracked when it was in their pocket, others say it automatically cracked when they were charging the phone.
People say the cracks are appearing out of nowhere, which is really weird since the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus, which is the company’s strongest glass to date.
You can see in the image below what the crack looks like for a user who claims to have noticed the crack when he took the phone out of his pocket.
Hey guys i have only had the 6 pro for about 4 days now and it randomly cracked in my pocket. I have the Otterbox Defender case on it, no tempered glass protector yet as I can’t find it anywhere. I didn’t drop the phone or place it anywhere strange or applied pressure. I just took it out of my front pocket and cracked the bottom right side halfway up the screen. Does anyone else have issues like this or nearby? I know someone dropped it and it cracked, but it’s weird, just random, along the screen.
Another device owner said they tried to contact a Google customer service representative about the issue, but Google directed them to web support.
I want to talk to a real CSR to fix this, but the support webpage keeps redirecting me without providing me with any way to talk to a real CSR agent. I tried calling customer service, but it kept referring me to web support. I want to bring the problem to Google and have seen the online community that I am not the only one with this problem. I don’t want to wait for the warranty to expire. Can someone from customer service contact me?
Initially, many thought that the screen had cracked due to some error on their part, but after looking at how many users were affected by the issue, it looks like a design malfunction or error in the system. engineering.
But since Google hasn’t said anything about the Pixel 6’s screen cracking issue, we don’t know if it’s a manufacturing or design flaw or if users are to blame here.
Nonetheless, we’ll be keeping an eye on the issue and updating this article as needed, so be sure to keep checking this space.
Update 1 (December 23)

11:32 am (IST): Some of the theories going around include one that suggests these Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro screen breaks are caused by third-party cases that are a little too tight.
start noticing a pattern here, is it all google case or spigen case applying too much pressure on the curved screen?
